Easy emptying and cleaning

The Flair^® 2 ileostomy pouch is characterized by the innovative Dual Security System; a 2 stage attachment process, which provides twice the security. The drainable version is also characterised by the integrated Integral Outlet of the pouch, a significant leap forward in design, particularly for those ileostomates with dexterity problems.

Firstly, opening of the outlet is aided by the Easy Grib Tab. Emptying is then mess free because the design is both ergonomic and seamless. This provides the assurance that the outlet has been effectively cleaned and that you will not experience any lingering odours. The folding closure then makes it quick and easy to close and once folded the outlet is securely fastened via Velcro which helps tuck the closure mechanism away discreetly.

Odour, gas and feces control

Odour, ballooning, leakage, blockage and pancaking: 5 well known problems an ostomate copes with are vividly controlled with this pouch. They are controlled by the winning combination of the Dual-Carb^® Filter and the inclusion of the New Advanced Filter Protection System. The filter works to efficiently and effectively disperse gas and odour at a natural rate which overcomes ballooning. Together with the Advanced Filter Protection System within the pouch and ergonomic shape, pouch contents are encouraged away from the filter, which in turn prevents pancaking, blockage and leakage.

Ease of use

Ease of use is a further design consideration. Firstly, the contemporary Cutting Guide is a simple print design which ensures precise cutting for a leak free fit around the stoma. Secondly, the Pouch Release Tab for ‘Burping’ and pouch removal is tactile and therefore suitable for ostomates with dexterity problems. Thirdly, the Blue Adhesive Tabs which are used when exposing the adhesive during the second stage of attachment are coloured blue for identification.

Dual Security

The pouch and baseplate are attached via the Dual Security System. The system ensures the 2 pieces require minimum pressure to locate, apply and secure. The soft, flexible plastic outer rim seals the pouch to the baseplate, but also provides a contact area for adhesive. In cooperation the two attachment stages provide the possibility to reposition before the adhesive is exposed for an exact fit, and leave you feeling twice as secure.

Comfort and discretion

The super soft New Soft Comfort Layer material has a number of attributes which make it an advantageous choice for the covering of the pouch, including its greater visual appeal. The material is exceptionally comfortable against the skin, even during extended wear time and is quick to dry, making it desirable for swimming or bathing. What’s more, the material has been shown in clinical trials to help prevent perspiration build up, avoiding skin irritation. Inside the pouch itself the inclusion of a Quiet Film ensures discretion.

As with all Welland’s successful pouch ranges, the trademark Hyperflex^® Hydrocolloid is characteristic and ensures you, the wearer, are comfortable throughout the day and night. Hyperflex^® is so skin friendly that it can be used on sore and excoriated skin and promotes healing. However, skin friendliness does not compromise security and the baseplate is purposely designed with additional adhesion at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions. Moreover, because of the assortment of sizes of both pouch and baseplate, an accurate fit around your stoma can be achieved for ultimate comfort and protection against leaks.
