Instructions For Use

Choosing The Correct Size

If you are unsure of your stoma size please use the measuring guide provided

Place the guide over your stoma ensuring a good fit and take a measurement. There should be a gap of 1 to 2mm around your stoma

Over time, your stoma may change shape or size, so routine measurements may be required to ensure that you have the snug fit required from your pouch to prevent leakage

Do not choose a size that is too tight as this may cause irritation and soreness at your stoma site

Preparing Your Skin

Wash the skin surrounding your stoma with warm water and un-perfumed soap

Throughly dry your skin to ensure your pouch adheres. Moist skin may lead to a poor seal and potential leakage

Avoid hard rubbing as this may lead to skin irritation and sores

If you are using barrier creams or wipes (such as WBF®) apply gently to the surrounding skin

Fitting A 1 Piece Drainable (Ileostomy) Pouch

Hold the flange between your hands for a minute or so, to allow the hydrocolloid to warm up. This helps with its adhesive properties and ensures a secure bond

Remove the backing paper (sometimes known as 'release paper') from the flange using the easy release tab

To ensure a snug fit, fold the flange in half, away from the body and place the bottom of the hole in the flange around the underside of your stoma. Work the whole flange in to place

Run you fingers around the edges to make sure the flange is secure
