Changing Your Pouch

Please read these instructions carefully before use.

Choosing the correct size

If you are unsure of your stoma size please use the measuring guide provided
Place the guide over your stoma ensuring a snug fit and take a measurement
There should be a gap of 1 to 2mm around your stoma
Over time, your stoma may change shape or size, so periodic measurements may be required to ensure that you have the snug fit required from your pouch to prevent leakage
Do not choose a size that is too tight as this may cause irritation and soreness at your stoma site

Preparing Your Skin

Wash the skin surrounding your stoma with warm water

If you have adhesive left on your skin from previous pouches you can use mild, unperfumed soapy water to remove it

Thoroughly dry your skin to ensure your pouch adheres

Moist skin may lead to a poor seal and potential leakage

Avoid hard rubbing as this may lead to skin irritation and sores

If you are using barrier creams or wipes (such as WBF®) apply gently to surrounding skin
