Changing Your Pouch
Please read these instructions carefully before use.
Choosing the correct size
| If you are unsure of your stoma size please use the measuring guide provided
| | | Place the guide over your stoma ensuring a snug fit and take a measurement | | There should be a gap of 1 to 2mm around your stoma | | Over time, your stoma may change shape or size, so periodic measurements may be required to ensure that you have the snug fit required from your pouch to prevent leakage | | Do not choose a size that is too tight as this may cause irritation and soreness at your stoma site |
Preparing Your Skin
| Wash the skin surrounding your stoma with warm water
| | | If you have adhesive left on your skin from previous pouches you can use mild, unperfumed soapy water to remove it
| | Thoroughly dry your skin to ensure your pouch adheres
| | Moist skin may lead to a poor seal and potential leakage
| | Avoid hard rubbing as this may lead to skin irritation and sores
| | If you are using barrier creams or wipes (such as WBF®) apply gently to surrounding skin
